Environmental Pollutants - Wood Treatment Arsenic Poisoning

There are very few chemicals on earth that are known, beyond all doubt, to cause cancer in human beings. On this short list is arsenic, a well-known poison. What few consumers know, and perhaps would prefer not to know, is that "pressure treated wood" (CCA) containing arsenic not only easily found at their local Home Depot or Lowe's, it is also the material used to build 90 percent of all outdoor wooden structures.

The FDA, for whatever reason, has allowed the use of arsenic in treating wood while banning it from use as a pesticide and in other applications. As a result, schoolchildren and homeowners are subject to a large dose of a cancer-causing agent every time their skin comes in contact with a piece of pressure treated wood. It is estimated that one out of every 500 children who play on arsenic-treated playground equipment will develop bladder or lung cancer as a result.

To help put an end to the use of this destructive material, consumers can speak through their pocketbooks. By refusing to purchase arsenic-treated wood or using an alternative type of wood, such as naturally-resistant cedar, you can do your part to remove arsenic-treated lumber from the market.

If you or a loved one has suffered an injury, illness or death, as the result of an environmental pollutant, such as pressure treated wood, and you believe the exposure was someone else's fault, call VanDerGinst Law at 1-866-843-7367 or click here for a FREE online case evaluation. The initial consultation is free of charge. If we agree to handle your pressure treated wood case, we will work on a contingency fee basis, which means we get paid for our services only if, and when, there is a money recovery for you. In many cases a pressure treated wood lawsuit must be filed before an applicable expiration date, known as a statute of limitations. Please call right away to ensure that you do not waive your right to possible compensation.
